This is the face of a dog who swam away to sea to become a duckling.
A mother and father duck were swimming in the sea with their ducklings. Lola swam out to quietly just be the fifth duckling. Nobody seemed to mind at all.
This is the kind of giddy adventure that spring sunshine causes.
This is the second Sunday that the sun has come out and our second time, this week, on a beach with a super-low tide. This time a rusty object was revealed.
Google lens has no idea what it is. A mystery in March , in the sunshine, Sundays are quite the exciting place at the moment.
Deconstructed Fruit and Nut Chocolate bar. Gift making in November.
November is one of my favourite months. It feels like a pause or a moment of restfulness before the hurly burly of the festive season. The quality of light when the sun appears, makes normal things more luminous.
November is also my favourite month because my birthday appears in the middle of it. This week I discovered that the authors of two blogs that I follow also have their birthdays in the same week. And we are all virtually the same age. I consider these two women to be blog friends, mentors and inspiration. Their blogs can be found on the links below.
Real world friends with similar birthdays would probably gather on a comfy sofa and natter away amongst plump cushions.

We would talk about our friends, families, pets and life in general.
Hugo and Lola in a sunbeam
I would certainly moan about the two viruses that have dampened the spirit of November 2023 for me. Dampened but not damaged. Although by keeping away from people because I was a walking virus pool I have been a lot less social in my real world this November.
Old piece of timber washed up on a beach.
Friends, be they virtual or actual are one of the magic ingredients of life. They are invaluable wherever and however they manifest themselves. They help us make sense of the world.
We’ve set up a tent extension to our campervan for the first time since before Covid. Summer plans have been somewhat changed due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control. Some things however must be squeezed into the itinerary no matter what. Camping with a small but important granddaughter who has loved our campervan since she was first able to walk. It is the campervan she loves, not the location. Last year she was hugely disappointed that we moved on from a supermarket car park where she had happily started her camping weekend while we shopped for food essentials.
For many reasons we have set up a day before she arrives. Everything apart from the weather is good to go.
We have a corner plot and a beautiful hydrangea next to the van.
No filters, all these blooms on one bush.
So now we await the V I (s) P. Fairy lights are in position. Last night there was a small fairy light crisis. A whole string fell on Lola. Worse things happen.
After a weekend of grey weather, Monday was as bright as a button. Unfortunately the day had a schedule that would not light up anyone’s life. Just the dullest of tasks and shopping for cleaning products. But the sun was out and we really needed to harvest some vitamin D so a quick ferry trip took us to the ‘ Forgotten Corner’ of Cornwall to gather sunbeams.
Not that the two villages of Cawsand and Kingsand are in any way forgotten by us. We used to row pilot gigs for the local club.
But a much loved family member was killed in this area 7 years ago and it has taken a little while for us to feel comfortable on the roads around here. Clearly something has changed, this is our fourth visit in 6 months. Building new memories and realising how much beauty we have been missing is the tipping point. For two hours we could have been somewhere Mediterranean, even the dogs, who have no idea what Mediterranean is, basked like furry holiday-makers. No airports involved.
Sunshine really is the great embellishment of life, that and allowing time to do some healing.
Christmas Day 2019 and the weather was very kind to us. It took extremely creative photography to make the beach seem as quiet and tranquil as this. There were hundreds of people and dogs taking in the sunshine .
