theoldmortuary.design- our style

Theoldmortuary is furnished predominantly by recycled and repurposed furniture and fittings. The Barcelona chair here was an eBay bargain bought in Kent. The yellow cushion is by Harlequin from John Lewis and the one behind is from Hoi An , Vietnam. The pouffe comes from Habitat and the picture above was painted by Juliet Cornell and represents the mineral pollution that exudes into the mud of Devon Great Consuls mine at Gunnislake. The walls are painted with Farrow and Ball Railings.
This cuddle sofa has been recycled from our flat in London. The bee pillows come from John Lewis. The wallpaper is Flying Ducks by Mulberry and the painted wall is Railings by Farrow and Ball. The prints are simply illustrations of insects printed by inkjet printer on pages from an old book.
Treasure #developingyoureye
I’m always intrigued by the unusual. Still in a filthy condition the bits clearly represented “treasure” to the builders.
Street #developingyoureye Tran Phu, Hoi An, Vietnam
Hoi An is a beautiful small city in Vietnam. I took this shot of Tran Phu last week, after rain and nightfall. Hoi An is famed for its tailors, Japanese merchant houses and tea warehouses. All of which are on this street. I spent happy hours drinking tea in the most peaceful tea house , Reaching Out on Tran Phu and had some amazing clothes made at AoBaBa on the same street.
Reaching Out Tea House, Hoi An
We love serendipity. This cushion resting against a worn wall in the Reaching Out Teahouse in Hoi An, Vietnam, makes perfect harmony with its environment.
