Summer Solstice started with a burst of colour over Firestone Bay as two bobbers and about 100 other swimmers took to the sea at dawn, the conditions were perfect.

Then the Solstice took a more practical turn as twenty volunteers, including two bobbers, took on the annual task of painting the Tennis Club Clubhouse with preservative.

Then it was back to the sea for more swimming at sunset.

So much exercise in one day and not a gym in sight.

A day painted perfectly.

In other news, the Solstice was celebrated in the local Tinside Lido.

And, of course, at Stonehenge.

Celebrated as a timeless place of worship with peace, love and traffic holdups.

Sunday sunshine and a bit of tennis. Oh the sun is glorious this weekend. We were up early to enjoy as much of the day as possible.

The tennis club gardens were looking gorgeous in the bright morning sunshine.

Hybrid Peony Bartzilla brought an acidic kick to the border near the tennis court.

The tennis also brought a kick of its own as back muscles complained about the early morning work out. June has arrived and so far she really is flaming. Tonight high tide is at 7 pm and the bobbers are planning a plunge. It will be fab.

Bluebell ‘wood’

An early morning foray into the Stonehouse Lawn Tennis Club to catch the garden waking up.

The birdsong was magnificent this morning.

I’m not sure that I got the best of it but this is a flavour of the morning song.

I was on a quest to get images beyond the clubs boundaries for future social media posting.

I even found a feature on my phone camera that I don’t quite understand. But it does actually count as a glimpse across the boundary.

May is such a gorgeous month for getting up early and doing photography. The daisies were barely awake when I caught them.

And once again while searching for landscapes the Arum lilies forced me to pay attention to their unique beauty.

But I did get some sea views. The whole point of my morning expedition.

But the plants were quite persuasive, dew-drenched and touched by the morning sun.

An early morning well spent.
