There is not a tiny part of me that thinks the trashy celebration of Halloween is worthy of my time. But here I am , on a day when I have precious little time sharing two Halloween images that have tickled me.

I am a faithful and appreciative follower of your blog, but each year I am distressed by your dismissal of Halloween as “trashy”. Here in Canada Halloween is a much-loved institution which makes everybody happy. The children are excited and have a wonderful time dressing up and going out on the streets; and the adults also look forward to opening their doors to all the monsters, superheroes, elves, kittens, bears, etc., and handing out candy and snacks. It brightens the end-of-October gloom, just as this season’s festivals and celebrations have done for millennia. Please, Juliet – you don’t have to like Halloween, much less participate – but no more annual denigration!

In my defence I made and decorated a community hall with knitted bunting in beautiful autumnal colours ready for both Halloween and Firework night. Had I not been otherwise engaged I would have been helping with a Childrens Spooky Book event on Halloween that would have been joyously written up in the blog. Life took a turn.
